BUSINESS PERMITS

The Department of Economic Development is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the Business Permit By-Law of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi. This includes overseeing the issuance and renewal of business permits, maintaining the Chisasibi Business Registry, and ensuring that all local businesses operate in compliance with community regulations.

Through this mandate, the department supports sustainable economic growth and the orderly development of business activities within the community.

Any person who wants to operate a business within the parameter of Category 1A land of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi must obtain a business permit pursuant to the Business Permit By-Law.

Any Itinerant Merchant from outside of the territory of Chisasibi must also obtain a business permit from the Council of the Cree Nation of Chisasibi in order to sell his products on the territory of Chisasibi.

How To Obtain A Business Permit?

  • Complete the Business Permit Application Form 
  • Have a physical and official place of business in Chisasibi’s commercial district.
  • Itinerant merchants must have a valid permit under the Consumer Protection Act.
  • Pay the applicable permit fee.

Business Permit Fees

  • Long Term (Local Business)

Initial Business Permit: 100$ per year

Renewal: 50$ per year

  • Short Term (Itinerant Merchant)

Initial Business Permit: 300$ per week (7 days)

Renewal: 300$ per week (7 days)
